St. John’s wort (hipericum perforatum) is a 30-60 cm natural plant from temperate areas of Europe, with intense yellow flowers, recognized since ancient times for its magical qualities and its healing properties.

There are several hypotheses as to the origin of its name; According to our preferred interpretation, “hypericum” comes from the Greek, ύπερ / íper- (on) and εικόνα / ikóna (image): “Above every image, or everything imaginable”.
