Violet has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, dermoprotective, antioxidant, antidepressant and antibacterial action.

The Violet comes from Tanzania, originally found in the Usambara Mountains. In 1892, Baron Walter von Saint Paul-Illaire, representative of the German East Africa Company and a senior colonial official in Tanganyika, sent violet seeds to his father, a sailor and parliamentarian with botanical interests. In 1893, the botanist Hermann Wendland described it and named it Saintpaulia in honor of the Baron.

Plant

The Violet (Saintpaulia ionantha Wendl) is a short and compact plant, with a very short stem, with the leaves forming a rosette from the center of which its beautiful flowers sprout from pale lilac to dark blue, sometimes white. It has dark green leaves on the upper side and purple or reddish on the underside.
